Sea Kayaking
The following information provides an overview on our grading of our Sea Kayaking trips. Further information of a specific nature can be found in the relevant Trip Dossier. If you are in any doubt at all regarding your suitability for a trip, please contact us and we will be glad to talk about the trip in detail and provide you with a recommendation.
Grade - easy
Our easy graded sea-kayaking holidays are open to anyone with a reasonable degree of fitness to join. No previous experience of sea-kayaking is required - just some enthusiasm and a willingness to learn the basic strokes. Accommodation is generally in hotels or on boats which support these trips, so they mostly involve day paddles and there is usually the option to take the afternoon off if you like!
These trips are perfect for people who want to try sea-kayaking in a safe and relaxing environment (the destinations are often warm-water) or who have some previous experience of sea-kayaking but who prefer the comforts of a real bed at night!
Grade - moderate
We recommend that you have at least four days sea-kayaking experience prior to joining a trip graded moderate.
You can expect to be paddling for up to six hours a day in a wide range of conditions but generally in sheltered water. Experience of wild camping in remote environments is useful but not essential for these trips.
Grade - challenging
We recommend that you have at least one week’s sea-kayaking experience prior to joining a trip graded challenging. You should be reasonably fit and can expect to be paddling for up to eight hours a day in a wide range of conditions including long stretches of open water. You should have experience of and be comfortable wild camping in remote environments.
