Highway to segregate the Serengeti

The Tanzanian government plans to build a major highway across the Serengeti National Park and neighbouring Masai Mara.  The proposed road could have a potentially devastating effect on the wildlife, ecotourism and community development which exists in that area. Conservationists are deeply concerned that if the plans were to be put in place it would lead to the demise of the largest migration in the world.

The WJ team is really looking forward to watching a new documentary series ‘Lost Land of the Tiger’ which starts tonight at 9pm on BBC1.  Searching for tigers hidden in the Himalayan Kingdom, the filmmakers strive to find evidence that could help bring the wild tigers back from the brink of extinction and safeguard their future.
