We have a few very keen skiers in the Wilderness Journeys office and we can't help but come over all green when we get reports like the one below from our expert guide, Robbie Fenlon in Chamonix...Robbie says "Big snow falls hit Chamonix on Thursday night, 80 cm to 1 meter of snow predicted to fall above 1800m This type of storm is very good for building up the snow we need for ski touring in March and April.

Sat in an apartment in Chamonix just 2 nights ago, I looked up at the surrounding mountains in awe, shimmering white in the moonlight from their first dustings of snow, “it’s going to be a good season for snow this year” says Robbie Fenlon, UIAGM Mountain Guide for our ski touring trips in the Alps.I went to meet Robbie and the rest of the team we work with in Chamonix before the season kicks off next week.

As I sit writing this from the snug confines of our Aviemore office, right at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, the mountain view from our window is a constant tease.We've already had the first snows of this winter and for a brief couple of days the hills looked magnificent with the snow-capped peaks giving way to the blaze of colour emanating from the glens, where autumn leaves where at their most vibrant.
